Toys and other consumer goods sold in the EU market will increase the demand for new aromatic hydroc

2018-08-01

In the near future, the EU has extended the limits of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Appendix seventeen of the REACH regulation to plastic and rubber components (mainly toys and other consumer goods). The limit depends on the use and nature of the articles. The start date of the provision is December 27, 2015.

As early as July 2013, the proposal to extend the limits of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) to toys and other consumer goods in the appendix seventeen fiftieth of the REACH regulations has won the strong support of the REACH Committee.

In December 7, 2013, the European Union official communiqu (OJEU) published (EU) code No. 1272/2013, which has added the new requirements for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) to appendix seventeen fiftieth of REACH. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the list are listed as class 1B carcinogens, which limit the expansion of oil and similar oils from the existing tire manufacturing process to the plastic and rubber components of the goods, which can be directly connected to the human skin or mouth for a long time or in a short time under normal or reasonable and predictable use conditions. Touch.

These polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are not intended to be added to products, and do not perform specific functions as plastic or rubber components. They appear as impurities in raw materials such as incremental oil and carbon black, which are used to make articles. Experience shows that these substances can be detected in plastic or rubber components of a large number of consumer goods, and of course, other materials may be detected. The implementation date of the regulation is December 27, 2015, and the items listed for the first time before the execution date can be exempted.

The focus of the new rules is shown in the following table:
